Japonia cere din nou Rusiei să-i dea înapoi insulele Kurile de Sud, cedate după ce a capitulat în al Doilea Război Mondial

Guvernul japonez şi-a reiterat revendicările în disputa teritorială cu Rusia cu privire la insulele Kurile de Sud.

Marţi, ministrul de externe Yoshimasa Hayashi a descris cele patru insule drept "parte integrantă" a Japoniei, a relatat cotidianul nipon Sankei Shimbun.

Anterior, prim-ministrul Fumio Kishida folosise şi el această sintagmă.

În urma agresiunii ruse în Ucraina, guvernul său revine la limbajul pe care predecesorul lui Kishida, Shinzo Abe, îl evitase timp de 10 ani în speranţa ajungerii la un acord cu preşedintele rus Vladimir Putin.

Arhipelagul, aflat în dispută de decenii, este situat între peninsula rusă Kamceatka şi principala insulă nordică a Japoniei, Hokkaido.

Japonia a cedat aceste insule Uniunii Sovietice după ce a capitulat în al Doilea Război Mondial, notează Digi24.

Tokyo revendică următoarele insule: Etorofu (Iturup în rusă), Kunashiri (sau Kunashir), Shikotan şi grupul Habomai pe linia care desparte Marea Ohotsk şi Oceanul Indian.

Propuneri anterioare de restituire iniţială a două din cele patru insule disputate, ca soluţie intermediară, au fost respinse.

Abe renunţase la sintagma 'parte integrală' a Japoniei în mandatul său pentru a semnala o poziţie mai flexibilă în disputa cu Rusia în speranţa unui progres major.

Potrivit observatorilor, revenirea lui Kishida la vechiul limbaj arată că actualul premier abandonează această speranţă.

Disputa continuă să împiedice încheierea unui tratat de pace între cele două state.
