Italia: În Sicilia totul este scrum, în Calabria focul amenință pădurile seculare înscrise în patrimoniul UNESCO

Mai multe zeci de incendii rămân active în sudul Italiei. Îngrijorează mai ales focarele din masivul muntos Aspromonte, din regiunea Calabria, unde incendiile ameninţă "Boschi Vetusti", pădurile seculare incluse la sfârşitul lunii iulie în siturile naturale înscrise pe Lista Patrimoniului Mondial UNESCO. Nouă incendii sunt active în această zonă.

Marco Di Fonzo, comandantul Centrului de Investigaţii Anti-Incendii Forestiere a avertizat că în următoarele zile "se aşteaptă temperaturi şi mai ridicate şi prin urmare va continua starea de alertă maximă" şi a solicitat "cooperarea tuturor cetăţenilor". "Este important ca toţi să avem comportamentul adecvat pentru a nu favoriza incendiile", a avertizat el, potrivit Digi24.

În Calabria au fost mobilizate 2.500 de persoane pentru a proteja aria forestieră.

Potrivit Sistemului european de informare privind incendiile forestiere (EFFIS), în Italia - de la începutul anului şi până în prezent au ars 102.933 de hectare de vegetaţie, o suprafaţă de mărimea a 140.000 de terenuri de fotbal.

Sunt cifre de patru ori mai mari decât cele 28.479 de hectare care au ars în medie între anii 2008 şi 2020.

De altfel, tot sudul Europei se confruntă cu incendii fără precedent. Sute de mii de hectare de vegetație au fost distruse și mii de oameni au fost nevoiți să-și părăsească locuințele în fața flăcărilor ce distrug tot în calea lor.
