80 de ani de la atacul Japoniei asupra bazei americane Pearl Harbour; Peste 2.400 de morți, zeci de nave și avioane distruse

Al Doilea Război Mondial se desfășura deja de 2 ani în Europa în momentul atacului, însă SUA nu erau implicate în mod direct, oferind doar arme și provizii Marii Britanii. Luptele de pe Bătrânul Continent nu îi afectau pe cetățenii americani, iar țara lor încă se bucura de pace.

Pe 7 decembrie 1941, marina imperială japoneză a atacat, prin suprindere, baza navală Pearl Harbour din insulele Hawaii, care găzduia flota americană.

Atacul s-a desfășurat cu 353 de avioane japoneze, lansate de pe 6 portavioane. În urma atacului, 4 cuirasate au fost scufundate și alte 4 avariate. Japonezii au mai distrus 3 crucișătoare, 3 distrugătoare, 1 puitor de mine și 188 de avioane. Peste 2.400 de oameni au fost uciși și 1.282 răniți, scrie digi24.ro.

Atacul de la Pearl Harbor a determinat intrarea Statelor Unite în conflictul mondial de partea Aliaţilor.
