President of Romania, Traian Basescu, said he would have a visit to the new consulate from Cabul (Afganistan capital) instead of Cahul (city from Republic of Moldova). The declarations were made on Otopeni airport, before coming to Moldova.
"I'll have meetings with parliament parties, I'll visit Kabul", said the president while telling about his program in Moldova. Actually, the president referred to Cahul, a city in the south west of Moldova, near to Romania border. Cahul is 175 km from Chisinau and has 40000 inhabitants. Cahul is the administrative centre of the district with the same name.
Kabul is the capital of Afghanistan. It is over 3,800 km from Bucharest and has a population estimated between 2 and 4 million inhabitants.President Traian Băsescu was met in Chisinau, at presidential aircraft, with bread and salt by the interim president of the Republic of Moldova, Michai Ghimpu. Between the two will hold a tete-a-tete discussion. Today Traian Băsescu will have meetings with Prime Minister Vlad Filat, the mayor of Chisinau, Dorin Chirtoaca, and with leaders and representatives of parliamentary groups. On Thursday, Traian Basescu and Mihai Ghimpu will go to Cahul, where they will visit State University "Bogdan Petriceicu Hajdeu" and the future building of the Consulate of Romania.
